SUNRISE CAMP/MARVIN'S CAMP/TRADITIONAL CAMP

JOB OBJECTIVE:

SUNRISE: Sunrise Day Camp-Staten Island, the only full summer day camp in the world for children with cancer and their siblings, seeks experienced RN’s to work with children from the greater metro NY/NJ area who are ages 3 ½ to 16.

MARVIN'S: Responsible for all medical needs of participants receiving services in programs operated by the Department for People with Disabilities. Responsible for ensuring the JCC is compliant with regulations from OPWDD and other governing agencies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implementation and execution of medical policies & procedures
  • Oversee Medication Administration and ensure that all staff adhere to their AMAP (Approved Medication Administration Personnel) certifications appropriately
  • Implement staff training on all medical related, required OPWDD courses
  • Implement staff training on all medical protocols
  • Provide minor First Aid and other medical attention as deemed appropriate
  • Responsible for making medical determinations regarding quality of care for individuals served and in the event of an emergency
  • Ensuring all medication is stored appropriately and refills are requested as needed
  • Developing individual medical protocols and safeguards
  • Health teaching to participants
  • Inventory of medical supplies
  • Assistance with personal hygiene tasks
  • Daily medication administration
  • Provide lessons on health & wellness to all participants
  • Communication with parents/guardians in regards to all health related matters
  • Supervise participants during meal times
  • Supervise summer camp RNs
  • Assist in reviewing medicals for camp and assist in the organization of camp in regards to all medical matters
  • Provide training to camp staff

Administrative Responsibilities:

Maintaining all clients’ medical files (ensuring all scripts are on file for medication, annual physicals on file for individuals served, managing medical clearance records, etc.)

  • Maintaining staff files by ensuring all staff are current on annual physicals
  • Creating monthly MAR sheets
  • Monthly review of completed MAR (Medication Administration Record)
  • Maintain contact with families and caregivers for medical updates and files.
  • Accurately documenting all care received

Nurse must be available by phone whenever he/she is offsite and program is in operation:

  • Required: Certified Registered Nurse (RN) CPR /BLS
  • Optional: Bachelor’s (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
  • Preferred: Knowledge of medical conditions pertaining to individuals with special needs
  • Required: All Staff must be fully vaccinated (Sunrise including booster)
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs
Compensation: 

$30,00 -$40.00 per hour
