Summer Camp Counselor (Seasonal)

The Staten Island Jewish Community Center Day Camp is looking for fun, energetic, caring and mature staff who love working with children for the Summer 2024 season. Positions include counselors and specialists to work with children of various ages.

SIJCC Camp is a magnificent outdoor campground which includes Olympic sized pools, an archery range, basketball courts, lake for boating, amphitheater, playground, gaga courts and sports fields.

Counselors must be at least entering their junior year of high school by the beginning of the camp season. Counselors typically work as a team with at two other counselors and one group of children, and are responsible for the health and welfare of their campers each day. Counselors are with their group throughout the day at all of their activities and on trips, assisting the specialists and supporting and encouraging their campers.

Specialists must be at least 18 years of age by the beginning of the camp season. The Specialist is responsible for implementing programs and experiences for children in a small group setting which include skill development in a specific area. Areas include but are not limited to one of the following: soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball, football, lacrosse, fencing, nature, science exploration, dance, yoga or gymnastics.

Staff must be available to work weekdays for 8 weeks, Monday, July 1, Friday - August 23 from
7:45am -4:30pm plus attend Pre-Camp Trainings. Camp is closed Thursday July 4.

Qualifications:   
                            Preferred: School Experience

Compensation:  $400.00 - $1,733.00 per month
